I Know Dogs

Hi
Hope all is well with you and your dog.

Adrain Peterson The editor (Robert) was watching a Viking football game in the office one day and I happened to glance up from my reporting desk in Edina, MN to see a player named Adrian Peterson glide through some nasty linebackers.

Now, I’m not a football fan but when I see some dude running with the skill of a gazelle or (ahem) a Greyhound, I am enthralled and ecstatic. I’ve been to a lot of dog races and seen the best but this guy deserves the ‘One Leg Up’ award for outrunning and juking the best pro players.

He has broken entire rookie running records. He was voted ‘team captain’, unanimously by his teammates and is going to the Pro Bowl in Hawaii.

I could picture him as a young boy owning and watching a dog and learning how to move. A dog that could run fast and cut either left or right with such skill that if you planted your feet in front of him, you were faked out of your ‘collar’. (You might describe him a MENSA running back, just like I’m a MENSA above average dog.)

I can fake the editor out of his newspaper when I want him to chase me. I put my two front paws on the ground and my head between my feet and challenge him to catch me…then I dash away. I even tease him a little bit and sometimes even let him touch me. He’s never caught me yet but he always gives me a treat.

Adrian Peterson is my hero because we have so much in common and his treat is going to the Pro Bowl.
